Narrative ( Time and Sequence) Brief

Image-making and the passage of time are inextricably linked. The earliest humans used sequential images as a way of recording history, a technique that we have used ever since. Not only can visual communication offer us a way of understanding the past, present, and future, it can also allow us to experience time differently, or even to exist in other times. In this module, you will explore notions of time - both visually and conceptually. Through a series of workshops and lectures, and working between still and moving forms, you will develop an individual body of work. You will be encouraged to work in an interdisciplinary way and could approach this project through a number of diverse possibilities. You will have the chance to develop your ideas through a range of varied workshops and a variety of media. You will be provided with a time slot (00:00 – 00:24 example) this is your starting point. You will be required to produce a 24second piece of moving footage accompanied by an RVJ documenting your journey on this module. Your final 24second piece does not need to reflect your time slot. It can, but you also have scope to develop from this. LEARNING OUTCOMES :
  1. Create an experimental visual narrative in response to a given theme

  2. Explore and develop production skills to support effective communication
